Edge blackening of lenses and other optical components serves to reduce unwanted light at the edges. MWIB has developed its own automated edge blackening system for this purpose. A key feature is the contactless application of the coating. The coating is applied precisely to the designated areas of the optical component. This makes the process reproducible and reduces reliance on manual processing. In addition to edge blackening, the system can integrate further processing steps, depending on the specific design and requirements. These include, for example, the contactless application of apertures and the marking of optical components with serial numbers or codes. UV-curing, smudge-proof coating systems can be used for this process. The modular design allows the system to be adapted to different requirements and manufacturing processes.
