Wikus earns EcoVadis Certification Once Again: More Sustainability in the Global Supply Chain

EcoVadis Bronze-Label: WIKUS rated for sustainability

On October 30, 2023, the rating agency EcoVadis awarded WIKUS the Bronze Medal for the second time since 2021, recognizing its sustainable and ethical business and procurement practices. This places the company ahead of 56% of approximately 100,000 companies evaluated worldwide. The rating is based on ESG criteria: environmental, social, and governance aspects.
“In all four areas—environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement—WIKUS performs above the industry average,” explains Niklas Rohde from quality management. The repeated award confirms the company’s direction and strengthens confidence among customers and partners.
Sustainability is firmly embedded in WIKUS’ corporate strategy. Among other goals, the company is working toward certification in accordance with DIN EN ISO 14001:2015. EcoVadis particularly evaluates the implementation of CSR principles, independent audits, and transparent tracking of sustainability goals.
Compared to 2021, WIKUS improved its overall score in 2023 to 53 points, with especially strong progress in environmental performance. The award highlights comprehensive CSR efforts—from recruitment and occupational health to building a more sustainable supply chain.
At its Spangenberg site, WIKUS is actively advancing sustainability initiatives. A photovoltaic system generates around 340,000 kWh of electricity annually, saving approximately 235.9 tons of CO₂ each year. In addition, natural gas consumption was reduced by about 31% in 2022, partly through the construction of a local heating pipeline.
