PCB Piezotronics GmbH
About us
PCB Piezotronics GmbH is the German sales subsidiary of the US sensor manufacturer PCB Piezotronics, Inc. and has been active on the market since 1992. In addition to the broad product range of PCB® - with the product brands IMI Sensors, Endevco, The Modal Shop and Larson Davis - the company also offers other high-quality sensors and measurement technology from other companies, such as Setra Systems.
The distributed sensors and instruments measure vibration, acceleration, sound, pressure, force as well as strain, and are used in industry as well as in the field of research and development.
PCB Piezotronics has been part of the Amphenol family since April 2021.

PCB Product Overview
The SENSORS FOR RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT overview catalogue shows the key products from the PCB Piezotronics portfolio. These include accelerometers, pressure sensors, force and strain sensors, microphones, calibrators for accels and microphones, sound level metres, etc.

Pressure Sensors
When selecting suitable pressure measurement technology, factors such as the static or dynamic behaviour of the pressure to be measured and the desired measurement method are key considerations. PCB offers various measurement principles for dynamic and static tests: piezoelectric sensors, piezoresistive and capacitive pressure transducers. The catalogue explains the differences and presents the corresponding pressure transducers.

Digitale Sensoren und Lösungen für die Maschinenüberwachung
DIGITAL INTEGRATION OF SENSORS FOR SIMPLIFIED, INDUSTRIAL MACHINE MONITORING In line with market requirements and with a view to future developments, PCB Piezotronics, as a long-standing and established manufacturer of piezoelectric sensors, is also a provider of digital solutions. Especially in today's rapidly developing world of networked machines, systems, actuators and sensors, the ability to integrate data from the field application (process) and analyze the enormous amounts of data has never been more important. PCB® offers a variety of digital sensors and system solutions that optimize machine and process monitoring. With the condition monitoring data obtained the appropriate maintenance measures can then be taken.

Sensors and instruments for Test & Measurement
PCB® sensors are the first choice for engineers and scientists in leading companies, research organisations and independent laboratories around the world. The products are used for product development, research and development, production, quality assurance and process monitoring. The product portfolio includes sensors for measuring acceleration, sound, pressure, force and strain and is supplemented by measuring amplifiers, cables and accessories. Typical areas of application include product development, environmental testing, quality control, production and process technology, semiconductor production and research and development.

Condition monitoring solutions
The failure of a machine or machine part in industrial use leads to high costs for two reasons. Firstly, damage is already well advanced when a failure occurs. Repair is then associated with higher costs or is no longer possible. Various approaches are possible for assessing the condition of the machine in order to detect faults at an early stage. The most common is to analyse the vibrations that occur, which provides information on the dynamic loads that occur during operation.

MicroPower embedded ICP® acceleration sensors for OEM applications
Due to their compact design and the arrangement of the piezoelectric sensor element, the Micro-Power ICP®/IEPE acceleration sensors can be installed in a component in various ways. The field-proven OEM sensors with piezoelectric sensor element from PCB Piezotronics are extremely durable. Compared to devices with MEMS-based sensors, piezo technology enables better fault detection due to its high-frequency capabilities. IoT and wireless applications offer high volume potential with component costs and assembly issues. PCB® helps with cost control and assembly issues.

Pressure sensors
As an exclusive supplier, PCB Piezotronics GmbH offers the optimum solution from the leading technologies for pressure sensors for every measuring task. The extensive and versatile selection is based on decades of experience with the manufacturers PCB Piezotronics, Endevco and Setra. When selecting suitable pressure measurement technology, the static or dynamic behaviour of the pressure to be measured and the desired measurement method are important factors.

• Sensors and instruments for sound measurement
PCB® offers a wide range of products for sound measurement. These include modern pre-polarised and externally polarised condenser measurement microphones, array microphones, probe microphones, low-profile surface microphones and other special microphones. This range is complemented by preamplifiers, signal conditioning systems, weighting filters, sound level meters, portable calibration devices, measurement cables and accessories.

• Force sensors
Static and dynamic force sensors from PCB® enable precise measurements in automotive development, the aerospace industry and process control. In addition to force sensors, piezoelectric ICP® strain sensors are also available. These are used in production to monitor synchronised manufacturing processes. This allows so-called ‘fingerprints’ to be created during crimping, pressing or joining processes, for example, which can be used to reduce tool wear and increase the service life of the machines. In addition, PCB Piezotronics also offers suitable signal processing modules, optionally with a connection option to monitoring and automation systems.

Calibration solutions
Accurate measurement is the most important prerequisite for quality assurance and requires unrestricted precision of the measuring instruments. Their functionality can be ensured by careful calibration of the devices and the determined measurement uncertainty can be taken into account in subsequent processes. Calibration is carried out in accordance with international standards. The ISO 16063 and ISO 17025 standards form the basis for the calibration of acceleration sensors and thus ensure traceability to national standards. PCB® offers devices for calibrating acceleration sensors, microphones and pressure sensors. In addition to the hardware, calibration services are also offered.
