IE5+ motors and LogiDrive
The energy-efficient latest generation permanent magnet synchronous motor has considerably lower losses than the current IE4 series. The unventilated smooth motor achieves its high efficiency that, at times, is significantly above efficiency class IE5 via a wide torque range – and is optimally suitable for the operation in the partial load range. The compact IE5+ motor offers a high power density with less installation space and will be initially launched in a size for power ranges from 0.35 to 1.1 kW with a continuous torque from 1.6 to 4.8 Nm and speeds from 0 to 2,100 min-1. Direct motor attachment as well as NEMA and IEC motor attachments are available. The motor concept will be gradually extended with more sizes and powers. It is ideal for use in hygiene-sensitive and harsh environments because it is easy to clean, corrosion-resistant and wash-down capable. nsd tupH surface treatment and IP69K protection class are optionally available, as well as an integrated mechanical brake. An integrated encoder is part of the standard equipment. With the new generation of IE5+ motors, NORD DRIVESYSTEMS takes the first step towards a new product system landscape with focus on ultimate energy efficiency paired with compact design. The new IE5+ synchronous motor can be combined with all NORD gear units and drive electronics as a modular system and supplements the successful LogiDrive concept. The new IE5+ motor can further increase these benefits. Utilising the high overload capacity of the motors and the system’s wide adjustment range, the solution is individually tailored to each customer and specifically designed for the system’s individual load range.

Extended power range up to 22 kW: the NORDAC PRO SK 500P universal inverter Optimum performance in the control cabinet: NORDAC PRO SK 500P series frequency inverters from NORD DRIVESYSTEMS are based on the latest technology and are perfect for all drive applications. The power extension up to 22°kW for this new NORD flagship will be launched soon. The central innovations for the inverter family, which will then comprise five sizes, are the integrated multi-protocol Ethernet interface, the multi-encoder interface for multiple axis operation, a USB interface for voltage-free parameterisation and improved motor control. NORDAC PRO SK 500P, the latest generation control cabinet inverter has only been on the market for around one and a half years. For NORD DRIVESYSTEMS, the new device family is already an extraordinary success. The inverter series is particularly characterised by its variety of interfaces and functions that come as standard. Various inverter versions can be optimally allocated to various application requirements. Plug-in control, safety and option modules ensure maximum flexibility and the compact book-size design format enables space-saving installation in control cabinets. With the NORDAC PRO SK 500P family, NORD customers benefit from a universal inverter whose basic version already provides high quality connection and functional features such as a CANopen interface, brake chopper, four parameter sets, PLC function and POSICON positioning control. Higher functionality and power with fewer variants NORD DRIVESYSTEMS extends the power range upwards with power levels 7.5 and 11 kW in four configuration versions. Even the basic version provides a large number of possible applications. The power levels for 15, 18.5 and 22 kW will be launched only as advanced versions with optional modules for interface extension.

TWO BECOME ONE Gear unit and motor in one: DuoDrive With the IE5+ synchronous motor, NORD DRIVESYSTEMS is setting new standards with regard to energy efficiency of drive systems in the food industry and intralogistics. NORD has now integrated this high-efficiency IE5+ motor in a single-stage helical gear unit and thus optimised system efficiency. Compact installation space, high power density and very low noise emissions are only some advantages for users in the intralogistics sector or in food and pharmaceutical industries. The new DuoDrive gear unit/motor combination features high system efficiency and a consistent version reduction paired with a smooth, unventilated and compact design. Elimination of various wearing parts results in lower maintenance. In combination with the simple commissioning of the complete solution via plug-and-play, this results in a significant decrease of the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) compared to existing drive systems. DuoDrive is suitable for use in food and pharmaceutical industries as well as in intralogistics.

NORDAC ON: Decentralised inverter with flexible Ethernet interface A future-proof plug-and-play solution for lower power ranges NORD DRIVESYSTEMS is further expanding its extensive modular product range of decentralised drive electronics. NORDAC ON was specially developed to meet the special requirements of horizontal conveyor technology in the field of warehousing, as well as for the interaction with the new IE5+ synchronous motor, and is characterised by an integrated Ethernet interface, full pluggability and a very compact design. An economic plug-and-play solution for IIoT environments The NORDAC ON is a compact and smart inverter for decentralised use. It is directly mounted on the drive housing and covers lower power ranges of up to 1.0 kW. The plans in place include two versions with three sizes each: NORDAC ON was designed for use with asynchronous motors, whereas NORDAC ON+ is intended for combination with synchronous motors and supplements the NORD high-efficiency portfolio around the new IE5+ motor generation. Both inverter versions have an integrated Ethernet interface and thus are ideally equipped for integration into modern automation systems. Whether for ProfiNet, EtherNet/IP or EtherCAT – the required protocol can be easily set via parameters.
