Georg Martin
About us
With over 75 years of experience, Georg Martin GmbH specializes in the manufacture and supply of various shapes and sizes of shims, notably laminated shims (Schichtblech), solid shims and edge bonded shims. We are the only manufacturer in Germany to process laminated shim stock, which is the raw material for laminated shims Laminum® (formerly M-Tech®L).
We serve a wide range of users, from complex aerospace projects and engineering assemblies to applications in drive technologies. Georg Martin also manufactures stamped, laser cut, punched and deep-drawn parts to meet the highest industrial demands, such as paper grippers in sheet-fed offset industries and power transmission parts in the automotive sector.
We have toolmakers and other highly skilled staff who specialize in developing die components. We design complex forming tools by using CAD/CAM. Working as a team, our 100 staff members ensure the cost-efficient production of high-quality parts.

Laminum® - Laminated Shims
When assembling components, tolerances can be compensated quickly and easily using Laminum® shims (formerly M-Tech®L). Although the Laminum® looks and feels like a solid shim, it is a fully layered product laminated over its entire surface. To fulfill its purpose as a precise spacer element, it can be peeled off by hand layer by layer. The wafer-thin shims are not intended for any other purpose after peeling.

M-Tech® Alignment Shims
M-Tech® Alignment Shims - Practical refill packages - Robust and handy kits - “Standard” shim kits with normal weight - “Non-standard” light weight shim kits - Stainless steel, aluminium, PET and POM - Precision alignment shims come in cases and refill packs In addition to standard stainless-steel shims, there are also the non-standard options. Depending on the type, non-standard shims offer higher adjustment accuracy or weight savings. The plastic variants can also be used as a damping or electrical insulating element. PET and POM are known as mechanically robust plastics. The multi-layered versions are the particularity of our alignment shims. They can be supplemented with normal, solid shims. In this way, only a few parts can replace entire cases made of solid shims. Service technicians can now proceed in a very targeted manner. More precise alignment allows a higher durability of the assembled components and less weight makes the installation easier and saves on transport costs. Here are some application examples of the different types: 1. The fully laminated, multi-layer shims made of M-Tech® L HP5. HP stands for high precision, with a 25 micron layer complementing the 50 micron layers. These variants are also available in stainless steel or wrought aluminium, which is HP1 or HP3. 2. The edge-welded M-Tech® V shims are very useful as well. The flat shims are pressed together before welding and form a unified package. Like a tear-off calendar, layers can be removed and can also be reused if necessary. 3. M-Tech®S solid shims are clean, burr-free and flat. The range is rounded off by shims, of 25 micrometres and 3 millimetres. By these means, shafts can be perfectly aligned.
