About us
Founded in 1897, the family-owned company Mayr power transmission is a leading manufacturer of safety brakes, safety clutches and shaft couplings. These products are primarily designed for use in electrically driven machines and systems. They can be found in filling systems, machine tools, packaging and printing machines as well as in elevators, wind turbines and stage technology. The company is active in over 60 industries worldwide. Around 750 employees currently work at the headquarters in Mauerstetten, and Mayr power transmission has around 1350 employees internationally. The company operates two further plants in Poland and China and is currently setting up a branch in India. With subsidiaries in the USA, France, Great Britain, Italy, Singapore, Japan, Spain and Switzerland as well as around 40 other country representatives, Mayr power transmission has a global presence.

Servo brakes
Small brakes with high performance density The safety brakes by mayr® power transmission guarantee reliable, constant holding torques over the entire service lifetime. They distinguish themselves through compact dimensions and are not only very lightweight, but also very fast when it comes to magnetic actuating. Furthermore, they feature high performance density, are wear-resistant and can be used even in demanding ambient conditions, for example at temperatures within the motor of up to 120°C. The brakes are also characterized by the high permitted friction work with dynamic braking actions: For servo drives, normally load mass ratios (load/motor) of 3:1 or smaller are selected for the benefit of good control characteristics and high dynamics. On the ROBA®-servostop® brakes, high permitted friction work and friction powers mean that load mass ratios of 30:1 and more are possible. The simple and robust construction of these safety brakes allows simple, quick and reliable installation: The operating air gap is factory-specified. In contrast to permanent magnet brakes, exact axial positioning on the motor shaft is not necessary. The ROBA®-servostop® brakes always work accurately and reliably; the magnetic air gap is not influenced by the mechanical installation situation. Every single safety brake, which leaves the plant, is subjected to a 100% inspection after final assembly and adjustment summarizes. All measured values determined are archived together with the respective brake serial number in our electronic database. This ensures 100% traceability – as reliability and safety do not allow for compromises.

backlash-free shaft couplings for all drive constellations
When it comes to automating production and assembly processes, loading and unloading machines quickly and efficiently or handling workpieces, all movements must be carried out highly accurately. Therefore, the shaft couplings which transmit the torques from the drive unit to the guide of a gripper, for example, have to work with high precision and at the same time cope with high loads. mayr® power transmission offers a wide spectrum of backlash-free, high-performance couplings for safe connections between shafts. These couplings are subject to very different requirements depending on the application case. That is why mayr® power transmission features different steel bellows, elastomer and disk pack couplings in its range. The portfolio extends from servo couplings via industrial couplings right up to heavy-duty couplings. The large range of variants creates a high level of flexibility for the various applications.

Intelligent brake monitoring
The ROBA®-brake-checker is a smart module for monitoring safety brakes. With it, you have the condition and function of the brakes constantly under control. The ROBA®-brake-checker works without sensors installed in the brake, does not affect the design and can be retrofitted without any problems. The switching device enables planned maintenance, remote maintenance and maximum operational safety of your brake systems. The operating status of the brake always in view - Sensorless monitoring of switching state, wear, critical coil temperature and faults - Highest operational safety by detecting faults before they occur - Control and monitoring function possible in one - Reliable and wear-free regardless of the number and frequency of cycles - Can be used flexibly for a wide range of ROBA-stop® brakes - Can be integrated simply, quickly and cost-effectively, even into existing systems Safety becomes visible - In addition to the pure signal, the module provides data on switching time, current, voltage, resistance, power and relative pickup current via an optical interface, for example. - Via an evaluation program, users can see whether everything is correct or whether action is required. - Maintenance can be planned and remote maintenance is also possible.
