FMB 2021: More visitors than expected!<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Now that the doors have been closed once more, the organiser can offer a positive summary of the FMB \u2013 the supplier show for mechanical engineering \u2013 in every respect. Christian En\u00dfle, Head of Cluster FMB:<\/p>\n

\u201cMany exhibitors took a relatively spontaneous decision to participate in the event during the weeks prior to the start of the show. Although there were a few last-minute cancellations, we are still content with a total of 416 exhibitors at 328 booths.\u201d<\/p>\n

The situation on the part of the visitors is rather similar: \u201cThere were many more registrations at short notice here as well. A large number of visitors did not register until one day before the event \u2013 under the circumstances, the 3,328 trade visitors recorded at the FMB was a very satisfactory result indeed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Look forward to an exciting lecture programme on all three days of the fair. On the first day of the trade fair, the topic “Surface technology: New functions, processes and effects” awaits you and will be presented by the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation IPA. The second day promises no less interesting a topic: “Digitalisation in production: the next steps”. This day will be moderated by our competence partner OWL Maschinenbau. On Friday, it’s all about Industry 4.0 again. It’s OWL takes over the stage and lets you look into the future.<\/p>\n

B2B Matchmaking at FMB 2021<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The direct exchange between machine builders and their suppliers is now sorely lacking on both sides. At FMB 2021 it will finally be possible again.<\/p>\n

This year’s concept once again includes “B2B matchmaking”, which will already be possible before the trade fair: Exhibitors and visitors can arrange to meet in advance of the fair and thus reduce their contacts at the fair.<\/p>\n

Strong partners have been won for this efficient way of initiating contacts. The NRW.Bank, which is very active in the SME business and has a good network, is involved, as is the Centre for Innovation and Technology in NRW (ZENIT GmbH). As a locally anchored link to the OWL region, the Kreiswirtschaftsf\u00f6rderung Lippe (Lippe District Economic Development Corporation) is also involved in the organisation of B2B Matchmaking.se.<\/p>\n

Until October we were optimistic that we would be able to organize a successful, informative and safe trade fair. More than 300 exhibitors were looking forward to a new start in the trade fair activities, and visitor registrations developed positively. With the sharp increase in the number of infections three weeks ago, the picture changed dramatically. We acted in good time and offered our exhibitors to transfer their booking to FMB 2021. The good news: Almost everyone has accepted this offer, so there is already a very strong exhibitor base for FMB 2021. This approach was confirmed by the lockdown that has now been imposed on the trade fair industry.<\/p>\n

The next FMB will take place from November 10-12, 2021 in the familiar form, supplemented by new hybrid formats.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Look forward to a new focus of the trade fair: This year the FMB will show the trends in surface technology for the first time. Both plant manufacturers and high-performance service providers, e.g. addressed for the fields of blasting, electroplating, powder coating and painting and parts cleaning. Around 20 FMB exhibitors are active in this area. You will soon find this interesting and innovative area of \u200b\u200bthe supplier industry in the online catalog of FMB.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

For igus as a regular exhibitor, the FMB 2020 is not merely a \u201cfixture on their calendar\u201d but is assigned a more significant role in view of the general situation. Michael Bla\u00df, head of the division e-chain systems: We are always glad to showcase our products at the FMB and have further increased our exhibition space this year. This show gives us the opportunity to conduct discussions with customers in the north-west of Germany, particularly at a time when many large national trade shows have been cancelled.\u201d This year alone, igus will be showcasing over 100 motion plastics innovations in Bad Salzuflen. In addition to engineering trends \u2013 with digitalisation leading the way \u2013 the trade show organiser is of the opinion that one topic at the forthcoming FMB will be discussed much more intensively than in previous years. Christian En\u00dfle: \u201cMany companies have now established that their supply chains are unstable in this time of crisis. In the coming months, they will draw their own conclu-sions from this situation, reassess their procurement strategies in this light and, for instance, build up second source suppliers or rely more on regional ones.\u201d The 16th FMB \u2013 the supplier show for mechanical engineering will provide the ideal forum for this.
